Hi Everyone,
It was a busy summer for Kids First. We had a music series fundraiser Weddstock. It allowed us to help some families for school. One young man made the high school football team but since his parents died he lives with his older siblings and could not afford football shoes. Kids First was able to get him 2 pairs - one for games and one for practice. We were also able to help some familes with back to school as well.
On a very sad note, little Gracie -the 7 yr old that Kids First helped with medical needs - passed away in early August. Her illness took her so quickly but her spirit remains with all of us. We hope her family can find comfort in the number of people little Gracie touched. We at Kids First were honoured to be a part of her short journey.
At present we are mostly preparing for the big Christmas - yes, I said Christmas- party. We will be sending out wishlists in the near future.
The other a lady contacted us looking for help with her situation. She is a single mom with a son and also takes care of her bed-ridden mother. She does find odd jobs to keep some kind of money coming in but is struggling. She, her son and mom live in a hotel on the edge of town. She asked for help with 1 weeks rent as she was trying her best but .....
Kids First was able to be of a little help. We are now reaching out to all of you. This lady works, takes care of her mom and raises her little boy and each day she walks down to the hotel desk to offer $33.75 for one more day. We have all felt, I'm sure that we were living day to day at times but this is the real thing. Can you take a minute to go to
www.kidsfirstofthecarolinas.org and donate a day of a safe place to stay for this family? Only $35.00. Isn't really so much to give a family something we all take for granted - a bed to sleep in tonight.
We hope you can help.
Thanks
-Sharon and Wendy with Kids First
