Get out there and #helpkidsfirst
While most of us are thinking about which camp our kids are going to, when we’re going to the beach, how we’ll spend our summer, some kids are worried about having enough food to eat. North Carolina has one the highest percentages in the U.S. of children under 18 years of age who are food insecure on a regular basis, almost 1 in 4 kids. Each summer while school is out, Kids First of the Carolinas delivers food to children in Mecklenburg and Union Counties. During the school year, these children rely on having free cafeteria breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, during the summer, when school is out... the cafeteria is out.
Our goal is to feed 200 children every week. Multiply that with 2 meals a day and then multiply that with 10 weeks. That totals 28,000 meals this summer!
Please collect in your place of business, worship, school, and community centers.
We can pick up from you, just let us know your location at donations@kidsfirstoftheCarolinas.org, or call 704-995-5679. Below is a list of needed items that Kids First will gather each week (to start delivering on a weekly basis once school lets out). Feel free to collect any items that you wish.
