Sharon Sanders devoted her life to serving those in need. As the Founder and Volunteer Director of Kids First of the Carolinas, she helped provide essential support to more than 40,000 families. She also founded The Shelter Medical Clinic for the Homeless, recognized as the largest privately funded free clinic in the country.
Her leadership and service were honored with the National Humanitarian Jefferson Award from the Jacqueline Onassis Foundation, and in 1996 she proudly carried the Olympic Torch. A true community champion, Sharon gave tirelessly to schools, churches, and local organizations—and was beloved by thousands.
Sharon will be remembered for her boundless love, unwavering support, and generous spirit that touched tens of thousands of lives. A devoted wife, mother, and woman of faith, she cherished her family and friends deeply. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Brent Sanders; her children, Hayden and Hailey; and her beloved dog, Payton. Her legacy lives on through the mission of Kids First of the Carolinas.
